Job Summary: Responsible for meeting customer needs by safely: Setting up and operating painting equipment to paint truck bodies or parts. Assisting with continuous process improvement and lean initiatives by following process flow, remaining flexible to complete tasks as part of the team, maintaining a clean work environment and offering suggestions for improvements, etc. Other duties assigned.
Tools used: Spray gun, overhead chain hoists, forklift trucks, pallet jacks, grinder/sander, cleaners, and small hand tools, tape measure, and computer.
Safety equipment: Respirator hood system power washer, safety glasses, safety shoes, coveralls, earplugs, grinding shield, gloves, etc.
Environment: Heavy industrial atmosphere including exposure to fumes, odors, mists, grease, oil, heat, humidity, cramped quarters and awkward positions.
Job Requirements:
1. Must be approved to wear a respirator by successfully completing a pulmonary exam and a medical questionnaire to be evaluated by the company appointed PLHCP (Physician or other Licensed Health Care Professional). Must follow our Respiratory Program including participating in periodic training and medical reviews, following proper cleaning procedures, etc.
2. Two years’ education or equivalent knowledge in automotive (polyurethane & prep) painting.
3. Ability to manually move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular heavy physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and bending. Using the overhead hoists requires ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs.
4. Ability to paint in a variety of positions including but not limited to kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing. This means working on concrete surfaces, ladders and inside dump
bodies. and must be able to regularly rotate jobs to meet job schedule, team needs or to meet any safety recommendations.
5. Ability to determine and make painting equipment adjustments as needed, read complicated instructions, measuring devices, and perform basic computer data entry.

Follow complicated startup procedure of equipment. Be able to proficiently run equipment that involves empting the crystallization tanks, and refining the lactose crystals before drying into dried Lactose powder. This position requires regulating factors such as solids, and temperature and making adjustments depending on the type of product to be produced. Taking frequent readings and logging upwards of fifty variables. Operating Clean In Place (CIP) cycles, Troubleshooting and maintenance of machinery. Position also involves cleaning and sanitation of all parts and areas of the Lactose department including walls, floors, and equipment along with assisting all other coworkers with tasks and duties that are within the department as assigned.
Position requires the ability to learn quickly and the ability to reason effectively, and ability minimal computer skills. Ability to record information on the logsheet legibly. Knowledge and application of Good Manufacturing Practices. Ability to instantly recognize when factors are outside acceptable parameters. To ensure the operation and maintenance of plant utilities equipment including boilers, water systems, air compressors and ammonia systems are done in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with all safety and code requirements.
Hourly – This position will work on 12 hour shifts 7 days on 7 days off from 6:00 pm – 6:00 am, which includes every other weekend.
Major Job Activities/Duties:
1. Operate and maintain automatically fired boilers, water softeners and reverse osmosis (RO) systems. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as traps, pipes, valves and make repairs when necessary.
2. Maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment problems with plant.
3. Operate and maintain plant air compressors to ensure incoming quality air for the plant.
4. Ammonia Refrigeration experience, HAZWOPER, ability to perform maintenance PMs on ammonia system.
5. Support, implement, and maintain food safety practices as required through SQF.
6. Will be responsible for completing job duties in a manner that supports all plant safety, food safety, quality, and environmental practices.
7. Perform any other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1-2 years vocational training in maintenance mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, machine shop, electricity, boiler operation and refrigeration or equivalent experience in these fields. Minimum 3 years experience in boiler operations. Must have at least a 1st Class B Boiler Operators License. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, machine tools (lathe, mill, etc.), welders, refrigeration and electrical test equipment. Manual dexterity for using hand tools, power tools and other equipment. Frequently stoop, squat, twist, reach, climb stairs while performing job duties. Ability to lift and carry 50 pound objects, repetitively lift and carry 20 and 50 pound objects. Ability to distinguish between sounds or vibrations for equipment repair. Possess strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Possess strong aptitude in pumps and steam generation. Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics. Ability to interact and communicate with machine operators and outside vendors.
