Why choose you as a guide?

There are undoubtedly several well qualified fishing guides in the Austin area. Capt. Tyler however lives less than 10 minutes from Lake Travis and spends over 250+ days on the water each year. By constantly being on the water he knows what the pattern is, where fish are holding, where schools of bass are, and what the hot bait is. When it comes to knowing how to catch fish, there is no substitute for time on the water. Tyler also prides himself on the quality of his boat and equipment. When booking a guide and spending your hard earned money on a fishing trip, take into consideration the gear you will be using. Tyler runs a top of the line 21 foot long tournament rigged Skeeter, and only uses high end tackle. Its your money, why not hire the best!

How long do the trips last?

Half day trips consist of 4 hours on the water fishing. Your guide will have the boat ready before you get to the lake in order to maximize your time on the water. Full day trips consist of 8 hours on the water.

Is the price per group or per person?

My rates are per group NOT per person. I do NOT charge a fee for a third person like other guides do!

Do clients usually leave a tip?

I will work my hardest to put you on fish and ensure your group has a great time! Gratuity is customary and very much appreciated, but not expected! 10-20% is a typical

How many guests can you fit?

Three anglers is the maximum I can fit. Larger groups will require the use of multiple boats. Please contact me if you would be interested in setting up a group trip. I would be happy to arrange it for you.

Do I need to bring my own tackle?

If you have a favorite rod or something new to try out you are welcome to bring your own gear. However, your captain will have everything you need for the day. All rods and reels are high end Dobyns and Shimano and are specialized for each technique you will be fishing.

Can I keep what I catch?

I highly encourage catch and release for all Largemouth Bass, however if you desire to bring some home you are welcome too, the legal limit on Lake Travis and Lake LBJ is 14 inches long for bass. I do have a personal policy that any bass over 4 pounds must be released. Striper however are great table fare and keeping enough fish to feed your family is a great idea! They must be 18 inches long to legally keep with a limit of 5 per person. If you wish to keep fish please come prepared with a cooler and ice. Please note: I do NOT offer fish filleting services.

What should I bring with?

All fishing gear is provided, however there are a few things you should consider bringing. Drinks, snacks, sunscreen, a hat, polarized sunglasses, and a camera are all great items to bring. Small coolers similar in size to a lunch box are more than welcome. Full size coolers such as a Yeti 35 or larger are not permitted. There is a cooler built into the boat you are more than welcome to use. All clients over the age of 16 are required by law to have a valid Texas fishing license. Licenses can be purchased at any Academy Sports and Outdoors, Walmart or online at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's website. Licenses can be purchase online via the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's website.

Are you child friendly?

Absolutely! Children over the age of 5 are welcome aboard. At least a third of my clients bring their children with to introduce them to the sport of bass fishing. When booking a trip please include in your message that you will be bringing a child. I also ask that you include their approximate weight so that I can bring an appropriate sized life jacket. Children 13 and under are required to wear a life jacket at all times when in the boat.

What dates are you available?

Please see the book online page. My calendar is updated daily with my current availbility.

What restrictions does my gift certificate have?

Gift certificates have no expiration date or blackout dates. Trips are subject to available dates however, please see my calendar on the " Book Online" tab for open days. Certificates are non-refundable. To purchase a gift certificate click here.

What is your cancellation policy?

I offer free cancellations if notified 7 days prior to the trip. Cancellations less than 7 days notice will incur a $50 fee. Cancellations less than 24 hours in advance will incur a $150 fee. No show/ no notice will be sent an invoice for the full price of the booked trip. Cancellations due to inclement weather are dealt with on an individual basis. Lightning, extremely heavy rain, sustained winds over 20 mph, or ice/ snow may be cause for cancellation. Please note, I will not cancel trips for light scattered rain showers. Fishing is an outdoor sport, some weather from time to time is expected. I will contact you if you have a trip booked and weather is a concern.

Where will we meet? Can you pick me up from my dock?

After booking a trip, your confirmation email will contain the name of the boat launch we will meet at. For your convenience I have included pins on the map for the location of the launch ramp for each of the lakes I guide on. For trips on Lake Travis we will meet at Mansfield Dam Park. If you would like to be picked up elsewhere, such as a private dock or marina, I am more than happy to accommodate! I do charge an additional $25 travel fee to cover additional fuel, time, and launch fees.
